Revelation 6

6:2 It never occurred to me that the man on the horse wasn't Jesus.  But it wasn't, because Jesus is opening scrolls.  But the man on the hose is sent out as a victor to conquer.

6:3 The second horse is red, and he goes out to take peace from the earth.  (So the first man on a horse conquers, the second takes away peace).  That to me seems pretty scary.

6:5 The third horse is black.  The man isn't given a purpose, but has scales to weigh out wheat and barley.

6:8 The pale green horse has a rider names death., and he has authority given to kill people.  I'm guessing that's his purpose.  So we have three purposes:  To conquer, to remove peace and to kill.
These don't strike me as very nice people on horses....
6:9 I was wondering what would happen after the four living creatures were all exhausted from saying "Come".  No one says come on the fifth seal.  And instead of horses and riders going out, there's people slaughtered because of God's word and their testimony.
6:10 I imagine that martyrs and persecuted people are already crying out "how long until you avenge our blood?"
6:11 I wonder if there's a particular number to reach?
6:12 As if things weren't bad enough, now nature has also turned against people.  An earthquake - perhaps that raises enough dust that both the sun and moon are blocked out?  It can't be an eclipse right, because it's affecting both of them...

6:13 And stars are falling to the earth.  This is an interesting scientific phenomenon.  I'm glad that I don't expect to have to live through it on earth, but I do hope I get to see it (or rather, learn about it) from heaven.

6:14 The sky is torn open?  Every mountain and island is moved.  So it's not just any old earthquake - it's a whole-earth quake....

6:15 The security of power and money no longer holds any value.  The rich the powerful the military commanders are joining the normal slaves and free people in hiding and wishing that they would just die.  People are fearing God.

6:17 No one is able to stand against the wrath of God.  I'm glad we live under His grace!
